I spent 31 days in a bootcamp

If you are on the self-improvement side of the internet
There’s a high chance you know David Goggins.
One day as I was fishing for content inspiration on Youtube
I came across one of Goggins’ podcasts.
The thumbnail and title were too good to resist.
I clicked on the video and watched the entire 2 hours.
Trust me
It was worth it.
Goggins talked about “Hell Week”
One of the most gruesome military training.
Only 25% of the applicants ever make it through to the end.
As someone who is obsessed with self-mastery
This challenge was like music to my years.
I did my research and registered for a boot camp.
The 200km journey to get there was daunting enough
Little did I know I was in for a long treat of cold-served torture.
We underwent beginner-level military training:
- 5 a.m drills
- Horrible meals
- Limited phone usage
- Strict non-sexual code
- Intense physical training
It was a horrible experience
But guess what?
I would gladly do it again.
The experience revealed parts of myself I never knew existed.
Here are the 5 mind-fuck lessons I learned:
Lesson 1: You are living far below your potential!
You'll never realize your true capabilities until you are pushed to your absolute limits. Your mental limit is where your mind tells you to stop. Your absolute limit is where your body can't take it anymore. Push through both!
Lesson 2: Live on the edge
The edge is where true greatness resides. Your best self can only be forged under immense pressure and hardship. Live every day at the border of your absolute limit. Anything short of that and you risk falling into the abyss of mediocrity!
Lesson 3: With great discipline comes great power
True discipline is delaying your gratifications until you've earned them. Nothing can stop a man who has mastered his biological urges.
- Food
- Sex
- Sleep
Tame these urges before they become incurable addictions!
Lesson 4: Harness the power of brotherhood
An isolated will is a vulnerable will. When you are with a tribe of men striving for excellence The collective camaraderie will ignite and fortify your will & spirit. You won't get far as a lone wolf. Find your pack and hunt together!
Lesson 5: Be multi-dimensionally jacked
Self-mastery is a combination of - Mental toughness - Physical endurance - Emotional resilience. This is the holy triad for developing an unbreakable spirit. Train everything!
As you can imagine
It was practically impossible to create content from camp.
In fact, the only gadgets that were allowed were our phones.
I also made the conscious decision to enjoy the experience to the fullest.
Here’s me saying:
WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK.
Fasten your belts fren!
The year is moving at the speed of light
And we are about to crash into the last quarter.
